My 2015 #11-20

My 2015 #11-20

11.If someone wrote a book about your life in 2015, what kind of genre would it be? A comedy, love story, drama, film noir or something else?
It would be a How-To book.
How to Spin Off the Road After a Snow Storm
How to Get a Promotion in Retail
How to Leave Retail Before it’s Too Late
How to Live on Very Little Income
How to Help A Pregnant Sister
How to Put a Roof on a Garage
How to Stain Wood Paneling
How to Paint Sliding Closet Doors
How to Make Tacos
How to Find the Puppy of Your Dreams

12.What was the most important lesson you learned in 2015?
Being broke doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.

13.Which mental block(s) did you overcome?
I was struggling so much before I was hired at my new job. I felt really stuck creatively and emotionally. Getting out of my parents house and finding a job I enjoy really helped me conquer those feelings.  I’m still struggling to figure out what I really want, but I know that I need to pray more. I also know I got through a lot in 2015.

14.What 5 people did you most enjoy spending time with?
Sara, Tom, Sara Mc., Rachael, and my Mom.

15.What was your biggest break-through moment career-wise?
I took a pay cut to both get out of retail and cut down my commute. Even though my budget is really tight, I know that I’m gaining experience in a position that is much closer to my interests and skills.

16.How did your relationship to your family evolve?
Moving out made it a lot easier to have a good balance between family and personal time. I make most of my own food, but I occasionally go over to Mom and Dad’s to eat dinner with them. It’s nice.

17.What book or movie affected your life in a profound way?
I finally read The Bell Jar and I found a lot of insight in it. I think it gave me perspective on my life and my decisions. It made me realize how common it is to not know what you want to do. I know several of my friends are still trying to figure it out, but to see it put so well in writing added another level of assurance. It also warned me to not let my confusion and discomfort lead to immobility. It reaffirmed that I make the decisions that can change my life or keep it stagnant.

18.What was your favorite compliment that you received this year?
I should start writing down the compliments people give me.

19.What little things did you most enjoy during your day-to-day life?
For the last two months of 2015 I most enjoyed my puppy putting is whole front half on the bed in the morning and waking me up with kisses and nudges. He’s quite adorable in the morning. Before that, I guess I loved watching Friends with Sara and cooking dinner for myself or the both of us.

20.What cool things did you create this year?
I started my “year of making” on July 9th and vowed to make something every day. Sometimes the only thing I made all day was lunch, but I counted it. A lot of it was focused on a knit blanket I’m still working on. Some of the creations were sketches others were little craft projects. I also tried to do a lot of experimenting with my camera and Photoshop. I worked a lot on a family photo book. I even included house projects too (painting, sanding, etc.). I really liked the invitation designs I made too. I wish I had more photos handy, but almost all of them are on instagram.
