So, here’s the story about how I blistered my fingers. A couple of summers ago, I borrowed my cousin’s guitar. I studied Youtube videos like a beast and learned how to play a few chords. My cousin eventually asked for her guitar back, and I was instrument-less. My fingers got all fleshy again and I went on my way.
Then, good old Daddy saw a guitar at the thrift store, and we bought it… and strings and nuts and a string saddle (because it had nothing). Then we got it together and realized that it bowed. So, that guitar was left in the basement, and my Dad found another guitar at a yard sale, and it works great. I am slowly teaching myself again, and my fingers are throbbing and look like this. >>>
Along the way I’ve learned a few things about self-teaching guitar. I wanted to provide a few tips for others (purely as someone learning how to herself).
Obviously, these are really simplified, but honestly it’s much easier to have these goals in mind when you start.
