Book Reviews

I tend to write these reviews fast, so sorry if they are odd! Lol. Right now I’m just trying to enjoy the rest of my summer.  This evening I’m probably going to watch The Hunger Games for the third time since it released last night. There is also an Irish festival in my town tonight and a reading for a play written by a theater student from my town about a young man who gave his life in Afghanistan.  He was the husband of a friend of a friend. I’m probably going to finish my crying streak out.  Is it possible to cry too much?

Sundays at Tiffany'sSundays at Tiffany’s by James Patterson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This novel was exactly what I needed after finishing up The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series.  The novel is a light-hearted, easy read. Sundays at Tiffany’s is an emotionally and spiritually packed story about a woman who is in a rut.  Success, money, and knowing the right people don’t make one happy.  Only the right person can do that, and for Jane, that person is Michael, Jane’s imaginary childhood friend.
Is this novel supernatural? In a sense, which makes it exactly the kind of book for me.  Some might criticize Jane for being passive and dependent on Michael, but it’s the honest to God truth! Sometimes people are stuck, and they need someone to help them out.
This novel is an adorable story about love, honesty, and destiny.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (Millennium, #3)The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
What great ending to a thrilling trilogy.  I had trouble getting through this novel because it is heavy in repetitive political terms and law and order.  However, the ending is totally worth the wait.  I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the verdict. The suspense was awesome.  My only qualm was the repetition of the evidence and Lisbeth’s predicament. Other than that, what a great ending!
