Book Review: If I Stay

If I Stay (If I Stay, #1)If I Stay by Gayle Forman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Okay I read this book in all of around seven hours.  It is a super quick read.  The plot was very interesting, to have to make the decision she makes and in such a unique circumstance.  I loved the idea.  However, I think Mia’s character and family life almost seemed too perfect, loving grandparents. some quirky punk rock parents, and one younger brother who adored her.  She has an intense romantic relationship and a lot of opportunities to enhance her music.  Of course, I think there are probably a lot of girls like her out there, but it was slightly annoying.  Some of the wording of the sentences seemed out of place and too perfect too.  Sometimes I thought to myself “Would someone really say this?”  Sill, I liked Mia and thought I would want to get to know her if she went to my school.  In the end, this book had me crying.  It was beautiful and well worth the time!
